Décrypter les Vagues de solidarité (XIX-XXe siècles)
HOW HAVE SOCIAL MEDIA AND MODERN TECHNOLOGIES AFFECTED THE IDEA OF SOLIDARITY? AFTER 2000 PERSPECTIVE

1. Technological revolution changed the whole idea of international and national solidarity movements all around the globe. Most basic consequence of this shift is that solidarity moved to virtual space where the physical borders do not exist. The concept of solidarity changed its face and dimension. What are the challenges and opportunities of this new idea of solidarity? What about the human dimension of this face of solidarity, especially if we compare them to the classic idea?

2. The era of social media – when 2000 is considered the pivotal point – seems to have affected the solidarity movements most significantly. Social media became the starting point of grassroots movements causing an unprecedented solidarity dynamic especially among youths (especially among social media users). From the other point of view, this may also cause in fact the generational gap when the new idea of solidarity is concerned. Can this be a problem in the long term perspective and can this be avoided?

Cette série de conférences explore une succession de situations précises. En décryptant la nature, les causes, les objectifs et les effets de la solidarité exprimée, il s’agit de saisir les raisons de la concomitance de ces vagues de solidarité. Est-elle fonction de développements observables sur l’ensemble de la planète? Tient-elle, plus sûrement, au mode de diffusion des idées ou à la mobilité des acteurs? Cette dynamique se limite-t-elle à la sphère d’influence occidentale ou rayonne-t-elle au-delà? Le but de cette réflexion est aussi d’engager un dialogue avec l’époque présente qui, entre crise environnementale, problèmes sanitaires et conflits armés, paraît valoriser l’intérêt pour autrui, fondé sur la conscience des fragilités de notre humanité commune.
